ABOUT US

LA ONDA

La Onda Troncones is your window into the world of Troncones, its people and its culture.

Onda is a little word with a lot of personality. In Mexican Spanish, onda means many things–a wave, a vibe, a style, an attitude, even “what’s up?” In La Onda Troncones, we’re all of that: the rhythm of the ocean, the feel of each colonia (neighborhood) and the stories we live together.

In Troncones, when you listen closely, onda can be heard everywhere.
Here are just a few of the ways locals use it:

literally: La onda del mar–the wave of the sea.
greeting: ¿Qué onda?–what’s up?; what’s happening?
vibe: ¿Qué onda en la fiesta?–what’s the vibe at the party?
style: Cada quien tiene su onda–everyone’s got their own thing.
attitude: No me gusta su onda–I’m not into their attitude.
issue: La onda es que no hay luz–the problem is, the power’s out.

In other words, onda is one of those magical little words that shapeshifts to fit the moment. It’s as local as the tide and just as changeable.

So, when we picked La Onda Troncones for our name, we meant the wave, the vibe, the heartbeat of this place–and the stories that carry it. If you want to sound like someone who might know a little something, next time you chat with a friend, throw in a ¿qué onda? or compliment their onda buena.

LETTER FROM THE FOUNDERS

Welcome to La Onda Troncones,

When we started this project, our vision was simple: to make something that felt true to life here–the beauty, the challenges, the creativity, the characters, the everyday details that often slip by.

We wanted to create a website that was more than just a directory, that was more than just a magazine.

We’ve tried to create a living snapshot of our community–what’s happening now, what’s worth knowing and who’s making waves. We believe everyone has a story to be heard, every event has its own beat and every newcomer adds to the rhythm. Our job as publishers and editors is to listen, share and connect.

Whether you’re a long-time resident, a visitor passing through or simply Troncones-curious, we hope you’ll find something in La Onda Troncones to keep you coming back.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for being part of our onda.
Please share our Troncones with your friends.

our mission

La Onda Troncones is singularly dedicated to expressing, sharing and reflecting the most essential aspects of life in Troncones, Majahua and Saladita. We consistently aim to weave together local stories, local resources and local voices. We aspire to be a place our readers rely on to nourish their experiences here, to connect to what matters to them and to imagine what’s to come so our community can continue to thrive and sustain the natural beauty and human bonds that make Troncones, Majahua and Saladita so unique.

Aura Winarick is a compulsive creator with a taste for beauty and culture. Before moving full-time to Majahua, she spent years as a private chef in New York City and the Hamptons–a world of high-end hospitality and design. Her eye for aesthetics and her deep community ties shape the visual and cultural heartbeat of La Onda Troncones.

Benito Vila is a writer with a background in marketing, publishing and graphic design. Today, he balances his poetry, landscape design, property management work with the editorial direction of La Onda Troncones. He is also a co-founder of Los Vecinos, a group of neighbors joined together to support the community living between Majahua and La Boca.

Together, Aura and Benito bring decades of storytelling, design and hospitality experience to a magazine rooted in the people, beauty and evolution of the place they call “home”.
