GIVING

Where can I help out?

There are many ways to contribute to the community here. Sometimes it’s as simple as giving a smile. Everybody can use one of those.

Troncones, Majahua and Saladita are efficient, sustainable and resourceful communities. Until tourism took off here in the late 1990s, local residents provided for one another despite a lack of paying jobs, paved roads and readily available electricity or water.

Some infrastructure still hasn’t caught up with all the real estate development. The local schools only go through the eighth grade. Garbage collection is left to property owners. The roadways and rainy season growth require maintenance that doesn’t always come from anywhere other than a group of neighbors getting together. And there’s a large population of stray cats and dogs in need of vet care and kind homes.

Here are a few established groups/people and their causes who will be glad to have your participation, whether as a volunteer or as a donor.
