SURFING

Troncones is a surfer’s paradise. Beginners can ride small, mellow waves here and there, while more seasoned surfers head to Troncones Point at Manzanillo Bay, La Boca, La Saladita or The Ranch for more interesting and challenging rides. Board rentals and lessons are easy to find in the heart of Troncones and Saladita—or just ask your neighbor or your host. They probably surf, too.
Whether you’re here to ride or just watch, the surf scene is part of life here and a great excuse to explore the coast. As anywhere else, observe before you go out. Talk to someone who knows. There are reasons why people aren’t surfing certain places (mostly having to do with rocks and currents). Always keep in mind you are not alone out there and wildlife does not like being chased or captured.
